PAUL WESLEY OF “VAMPIRE DIARIES" AND "24" STARS IN FILM SLATED FOR NOVEMBER RELEASE
July 20, 2010 - Inception Media Group, LLC, a diversified media company specializing in the production, acquisition and distribution of entertainment content, today announced it has acquired all U.S. rights to "Beneath the Blue" from Q Media Assets, and is planning to release the film on DVD, Blu-ray, digital and VOD in November.
The film features heartthrob Paul Wesley, who stars in the smash CW hit television series "Vampire Diaries," and had a recurring role on Fox's top-rated series "24" alongside Keifer Sutherland. Previously, Wesley co-starred in the popular WB series "Everwood." Wesley was recently named one of Cosmopolitan's "Fun Fearless Males of 2010," with the magazine noting "Paul recently joined the ranks of Hollywood's band of bloodsucking hunks, thanks to his role as centuries-old love-struck vampire Stefan Salvatore in the CW's breakout series 'Vampire Diaries.'"
Co-starring with Wesley is Caitlin Wachs, who was named one of "People" magazine's "20 Teenagers Who Will Change The World" and received the Young Star Award from "The Hollywood Reporter." Wachs' credits include television shows such as "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Days of Our Lives," "Judging Amy" and films including "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood," "13 Days" with Kevin Costner, "Shiloh 2" and "Inspector Gadget 2." Wachs has been widely recognized with more than a dozen "Best Young Star" nominations for her television and film work.
"With Paul Wesley starring in 'Beneath the Blue,' we certainly expect the movie to appeal to the core fan base of hit shows such as 'Vampire Diaries,'" said Andy Reimer, partner, Inception Media Group. "The story is compelling and the movie is beautifully shot. It will be particularly attractive to 18-25 year old women who are looking for romance, adventure and a great cast."
Alyssa Harker (Wachs), an 18-year-old dolphin researcher working with her famous scientist father Hawk (David Keith, "An Officer and a Gentleman," star of the new Fox series "Lonestar") at a research station in the Bahamas, becomes romantically involved with a mysterious tourist named Craig (Wesley). What ensues is a plot involving espionage, conspiracy and kidnapping which ultimately threatens the research center and its dolphins. Produced by Independent Spirit Award Winner Susan Johnson ("Mean Creek," "Nearing Grace"), the film was directed by Michael D. Sellers and written by multi-Emmy winner Wendell Morris. The cast also features Ivana Milicevic ("Love Actually," "Casino Royale"), Michael Ironside ("Top Gun," "Total Recall") and George Harris ("Blackhawk Down," "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix").
"Thanks in large part to the extensive industry experience of its management, Inception Media Group has quickly distinguished itself as a valuable distribution partner for independent filmmakers," said Michael D. Sellers, director of "Beneath the Blue" and CEO of Q Media Assets. "We are very confident that our film is in the right hands and will be fully exploited across all entertainment platforms."
The deal was put together in connection with Level 33 Entertainment who will work with both Inception Media Group and Q Media Assets on all marketing and promotional initiatives.
